MacMillan Support Charity Horse Show 2010 |

 Kelly Hiscox with her SmartRider Escape safety stirrups donated by SmartRider UK Ltd The MacMillan Charity Show 2010 raised £2,220, of which £2,000 went to MacMillan Cancer Support who will be using this money to offer support to those with cancer and also their families. Specifically MacMillan was able to fit home appliances to help their patients remain independent, was able to help pay the electricity bill for those who can no longer work and also send more nurses out to more patients. A further £220 went to Strokes, a relatively new charity that works with those who have suffered a stroke. It aims to keep the support group mobile and also to extend the members support network. With the money we helped to raise, the charity was able to take some of its members for a day trip to Blackpool. Organiser, Hannah Bates, said this could not have been done without the generous and excellent sponsorship from companies and individuals like SmartRider UK Ltd. The fantastic prize donated by this company was won by 15 year old Kelly Hiscox on her pony Diamond Eclipse in the Ride and Drive class. Kelly has owned her pony for 6 years and was excited about doing the class as this was something she had never done before. The rider had to jump over a set of 8 fences, before jumping off and pedalling a go kart around a set of obstacles. Kelly won the class by 2 seconds and was over the moon when she received her prize of some pink stirrups donated by SmartRider UK Ltd, particularly as her favourite colour is pink! |

Dear Jane
My stirrups arrived safely this morning, which was strange because it is my birthday today!
I practised breaking them open as instructed. Then put them on Drummer’s saddle, putting the leathers up two holes.
Tacked Drum up this afternoon, breaking the stirrups open a few times on each side so Drum was familiar with the click, asked my mum to take a photo of me to email to you, then went for a little hack to get used to the new stirrups before I go further afield tomorrow. Trotted up a hill and the stirrups are really comfortable and lovely and light. I’m always losing one of my stirrups, I think I have one leg shorter than the other, people look at me like I’m mad when I say that but I have! But I kept both my stirrups today.
Thank you very much for giving away such a good prize, and it is just my colour!
